The name cauliflower steak is a little odd; but if you give this dish a try, you'll instantly fall in love. If you've never heard of cauliflower steak, then let me break it down for you...
It's basically exactly what it sounds like; that is, cauliflower cut into steak shapes (cut lengthwise) and roasted (you can also grill them if you wish). My vegan cauliflower steak recipe was inspired by a traditional steak 'n' veg dish, but in vegan form. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, plant-based, or just want a meal with no meat, then this is the perfect dish for you.
The actual cauliflower part of the meal is crunchy on the outside and deliciously tender on the inside and has somewhat of a smoky tinge to it that's reminiscent of a Sunday BBQ with a few friends on a warm summer evening. The mix of spices give the cauliflower steak an unbeatable taste that's almost reminiscent of a middle eastern dish.
The beautiful thing about this vegan cauliflower steak is that you can pair it with what whatever you want. I typically opt for things such as rice, sweet potato, pumpkin, spinach or any other vegetable that takes my fancy at the time. Pairing it with a diverse range of foods and vegetables will help ensure you're eating an extremely healthy and well-balanced meal.

In the photo above, you can see that I served my cauliflower steak with roast pumpkin, brown rice and a green salad. However, cauliflower steaks can be extremely versatile and can go with a wide range of foods. So feel free to serve it with whatever kind of concoction of vegetables you can come up with.
I've also found that my pesto aioli sauce tastes absolutely amazing when drizzled over the top of the cauliflower. It only takes 5 minutes to make, so be sure to check that recipe out.
If you want to cook for more or less than 2 people, you can easily adjust the recipe (e.g. multiply all quantities by 2 if you're cooking for 4 people).
